Being sick and losing weight

I have been sick over the last couple of days....my body was achy and sore, like how you feel after lifting weights when you haven't in a long time, plus all I wanted to do was sleep all day. And then on the way home from my therapy appointment I started to shake uncontrollably. Plus I felt like I had a headache coming on from all the sleeping. I took a hot bath to help relieve some of the soreness from my body and took some Excedrin Back & Body and took another nap. I am so thankful that my two kids are older and that I was able to get the nap in while they played on the Xbox and in their rooms. I did feel bad because I was just not hungry nor up to cooking dinner, plus what I had planned to make the kids are too fond of, lol. But when I woke up I felt so much better...the achy feeling was gone, the headache feeling was gone and I was a little hungry.  I mentioned to my son that I was thinking of doing something light like PB toast and he offered to make it for me...just when he drives me to the point of going insane he goes and does something sweet like that, lol. I went to bed at my normal time but still didn't sleep very well, but that isn't anything new since I haven't slept very well over the last few weeks.

So I thought this morning that I was over what ever I had came down with. Though I still felt like I wanted to sleep I decided I was going to go to they gym. I had the game plan in mind of just doing some cardio, hitting up the commissary and then coming home to relax. I jumped on the treadmill and did my 5 minute warm up then got set up to do a short 30 min run. I only got about 6 minutes into the run before I had to stop and walk. It just didn't feel right so I stopped at 10 minutes and got on the bike think I could do 30 minutes at a nice steady pace...a lot slower than my normal pace. But again I only got 15 minutes before I stopped completely. And to top it off I was completely soaked from sweat, like I had just finished my normal 80-90 minute cardio workout. I knew then that I wasn't quite over what ever I had came down with. So my normal 900-1000 calorie burn workout was reduce to 240. Came home and took another nap and now my shoulder hurts from the way I was laying on my loveseat. But I'm not going to give up on going to the gym, just know that I won't be pushing myself too hard until I'm 100% back to being me. Tomorrow I'm going to a short arm workout and then jump on the treadmill and do some walking at an incline and go as long as I can. I think that I have been doing this long enough to know when my body says enough and to stop, lol.

One good thing is that after my crazy eating on Monday, I'm back to my normal eating since I didn't feel like eating much yesterday, lol. I'm not shooting for any weight loss this week since my eating and workouts have been so skewed but knowing that I can get sick, eat like crazy, not workout as much and still "get back on track" is a great thing and a big sign that this lifestyle change has taken hold in my life and that I won't give up when things go "bad".

  1. Hope you feel better soon. Keep your chin up. Sickness is temporary.

  2. Thanks Deanna. I'm feeling so much better today and was able to get in a full workout without pushing it too much.

That Ugly Fat Girl?

So I was taking a look at my past blogs the other day and I came across the blog I wrote back in April that showed my weight loss journey in pictures. And all I can say is OMG! That starting picture is so freaking horrendous. I can't believe that I actually thought I looked pretty weighing that much. I can't believe that my husband actually found me attractive then. And I can honestly say that I was not one of the pretty fat girls...I was just plain fat and ugly. Its funny what lies one's self will tell them to help them feel good about themselves. I look at myself then and then I look at myself now and can't even comprehend that they are the same person. I feel like I'm a completely different person now. I AM a completely different person now.  But every once in a while I still look at myself I still see a fat, overweight, ugly person. Like today, I know I had just rocked it on the treadmill doing sprint intervals (definitely going to add that to my workout plan

2014 Update

It's been a while since I wrote a blog...almost a year in fact... I have struggled so much with my weight over the last couple of years. I went from about 145 lbs up to 200 lbs. I'm back down in the 190's but so upset since I was so happy when I was in the 140s. I need to tighten my belt, for lack of better words, and get back to watching my diet and really and truly get back to counting calories since I know that works for me.  What really is heart breaking for me is going up in size in clothing. I went from wearing a size 8 to a 14, now back down to 12. I hate buying new clothes when I ones I love just sitting in my closet now being worn. The good thing this all is that I truly never gave up working out. I might have not been doing it at the intensity that I was in the past but that has change about 5 months ago. Five months ago I found CrossFit and fell in love. I have found through this program that it is very humbling and empowering. I have done more things that
